EPC non-compliance will result in a penalty.
- There is a penalty charge of £200 for domestic properties for non compliance and the EPC must still be produced.
- For commercial properties the indications are that this may be based on 12.5% of the rateable value of the property in question, with a minimum of £500 and maximum of £5,000.
An EPC is valid for up to10 years unless the property is let, altered or sold in which case only the newer EPC is valid.
