It is now law to provide an On Construction
Energy Performance Certificate EPC when the construction of a new
building is completed.
As part of current Building Regulations, the builder or person
responsible for the construction is required to provide an energy
performance rating to building control and to potential owners.
This also applies if the building is modified in such a way as to
provide fewer or more units with changes made to the heating, ventilation
or air conditioning services (HVAC).
Building Control will not issue a completion certificate until
the On Construction EPC has been submitted. Buildings that are built
to meet current building regulations save more energy, greater energy
efficiency, emit less CO2 and have lower running costs.
The On Construction EPC is accompanied by a Recommendation Report
which contains more advanced energy improvements such as the fitting
of solar panels. This is because many energy saving and energy efficiency
improvements have already been included in the design of the building.
